ASSUMING WE SURVIVE new release CHAPTERS is honest and heartfelt.

ASSUMING WE SURVIVE has plenty of energy and melody mixed in their new EP release CHAPTERS . Hitting a mix of pop-punk and post-hardcore, I’m reminded of elements of Blink 182 and Hawthorne Heights sprinkled about, yet maintaining their own individuality. Going on 10 years as a band has delivered them to tours including Warped Tour, Aftershock Festival and SXSW to name a few. Their lyrical content makes them easily relatable to different walks of life. This continues on their latest single Just So You Know which sings about the hardships of growing up and how sometimes we can feel alone in such a huge world. But also letting the listener know that they are not by themselves and giving some bit of inspiration with lyrics such as “It’s ok to not be ok, You got to love yourself and find your way”. The song is also filled with a chorus that is instantly memorized and you will find yourself humming along long after the end. Another favorite song is track 1, Make It Out Alive . The guitar driven riff and frantic drumming intro leads well into the sing along chorus. This is another example of how they have been able to share life experiences through music of the ups and downs of just trying to live. Something that I have enjoyed is the story-like style of their lyrics. There’s an intro, middle and end. Nothing mysterious, just straightforward honesty. The only thing I find confusing is the choice to make an EP instead of a full album. Each song is well constructed and AWS have proven they can consistently write good songs. Or maybe that’s the trick, making me want more from them. If so, they have definitely accomplished that with this new release. https://youtu.be/OKm1JG9T8HA Track listing: 1.
