Your new EP Hostile came out on June 28, how has the reception been this week?
The reception has been amazing, we really went for a different sound on this EP than our past singles so we were a little nervous what people may think, but so far its been amazing to see people enjoying the songs.
Is there any special meaning with the album title?
So, Funny story, the opening of "The End" came from an interaction Jeremy had with a man we met in Kelowna. He walked up to the van and the first thing he said was "we are nothing, we come from nothing, welcome to hostile". Jeremy thought it was such an interesting way to start a conversation that he ended up writing it down and it eventually became lyrics and where we came up with the name "Hostile"
Now that the album is done, what are you most excited about?
GETTING TO THE NEXT ONE.
Are there any particular songs that are currently your favorite and why would that be?
Of ours? That's like asking to pick your favourite cat, can't be done. Not ours, definitely "Ricky" by Denzel Curry
What was your favorite part of writing your current EP?
Certain predicaments lead us to only having two weeks to write this EP, so that was the best / the worst. But mostly the best.
What do you hope to hope to achieve with your music?
We just want lots of money, like fill a pool with vegan queso kinda money, so we can dive into it and not feel bad about cows.
Also, we want to help people find a better connection to themselves and in turn to those around them. Just kinda like "change the world" stuff, but super chill about it.
What would you like people to know about Widmore’s music?
We take it very seriously. seriously.
Also we call ourselves a "Boy band" because we have 5 vocalists that all sing live.
What has been the most surprising aspect of being in the music business?
How nerdy everyone is, you never think your favourite band just sits around playing fortnite, but apparently they do.
Are there any tours lined up that you can talk about?
YES, we have an upcoming tour in August with our very dear friends in Pollyanna
Any last words of what fans can expect this year from Widmore?
