Q: Your new album The Space Between Worlds comes out on Sept 27, how do you expect the reception to be?
ZW: Overwhelming applause from the streets with a slight disapproval from our fathers. We hope people enjoy the new album, its definitely different from the Black Hole Space Wizard EP Series. While we still have some heavy hitters, the overall vibe is a little more relaxed and psychedelic.
Q: Is there any special meaning with the album title?
ZW: The Space Between Worlds refers to the nexus that our protagonist explores throughout her journey.
Q: Now that the album is done, what are you most excited about?
ZW: We're excited to take the new songs on the road and head to Baltimore, where we will be playing our beer release collaboration with Oliver Brewing. We are also getting ready to head back in the studio to finish the Black Hole Space Wizard saga.
Q: Are there any particular songs that are currently your favorite and why would that be?
ZW: Zach: I love Everlight because its our longest song and it shows more patience in our songwriting. I also got to experiment a bit more with drum sounds more than any song we've recorded in the past.
Tom: I like playing Ice Castle live, I think the energy translates really well and showcases some of our tighter vocal harmonies. But Nomad is one of my favorites to listen to on the album.
Sebastian: My favorite song on the album is The Orb, I think the psychedelic intro and the heavy riff later on really work well together.
Q: Would you consider this a concept album and if so, will there be more to the story on a next release?
ZW: This is a concept album, though we don't plan on revisiting this universe in the near future.
Q: What do you hope to achieve with your music?
ZW: We hope to culminate an exciting live show that can take us around the world. We hope that our music leaves a positive impact on our listeners far and wide.
Q: What would you like people to know about Howling Giant’s music?
ZW: We don't take ourselves too seriously, just have fun with it.
Q: Who would you like to tour with on this album cycle?
ZW: Toke, ASG, King Buffalo, Torche, anything heavy and melodic.
Q: Speaking of tours, are there any tours lined up that you can talk about?
ZW: Aside from the week around our album release, we are sworn to secrecy.
Q: Any last words of what fans can expect this year from Howling Giant?
ZW: Is that a threat?
Really, fat riffs, fun shows, fresh merch, and videos of Sebastian napping (clothing optional).
