JINJER RISES ABOVE THE METAL SCENE: Review, Interview and Photos from Austin, TX Oct 27, 2018

Ukrainian based Jinjer is a breath of fresh air to the metal community that has become flooded with progressive bands. Tirelessly taking part of tour after tour, they have quickly become one of the hottest acts to see live due to their unmatched presence. So when I saw they were making a stop in Texas, I knew I had to make the 7 hour drive.

With the recent release of their new single APE, JINJER is a band that takes risks and it’s paying off in abundance. The progressive metal elements are present as well as groove foundation. So if you have been a fan for their past 3 albums, you know what they are capable of. If you are new to Jinjer , welcome, you’ve come to the right place.

Roman’s guitar playing has a swinging rhythm that is impossible not to move to. Eugene’s bass playing is unique in the amounts of variety and technique over the fretboard. Vlad’s drumming is jam packed with precision and smoothness that makes other drummers envious. And Tatiana’s voice is on a whole different level, leaving her contemporaries in the dust. Her ability to transition from clean to growls is unmatched. With her clean singing, Tatiana has a smooth effortless jazz flavor which soothes the soul. Then comes in the growls which are mind blowing in its delivery, deepness and power, punching you right in the gut. I have never witnessed or heard anyone quite like her.

All of this transitions to their amazing live experience, leaving fans, new and old, jaw dropped. Watching Jinjer perform live has to be one of the most memorable concerts in a long time. The whole time I was watching them, I kept thinking, they are the new conquerors of metal. They are the kick in the ass metal has needed for this era. What they are doing with their music is very refreshing. Talking with Eugene and Tatiana gave me insight of what they plan next; and I am very excited by their musicianship, determination and risk taking attitude.

Thy Will Be Done sets the bar high on their Corpus Christi, TX show.

I was excited to see Thy Will Be Done for the first time this past Friday July 20, 2018 at a local dive bar.  Having an up close and personal experience makes the show something very unique and lively.  Once everything was set up, TWBD went from zero to one hundred in a blink of an eye. The energy of each member was top notch and neck bending.  Fans were lucky to also have listened to a new song to a forthcoming album in the works.  And from the sound of it, they have not lost any of their viciousness and sound.  If anything, they are precise and brutal as ever, making fans drool in anticipation of whats to come.  I had to give praise to J Costa (vocals) and the band for an amazing performance and their ability to not having to rely on any backtracks (as to something that has unfortunately become all too common).  Thy Will Be Done kick ass; nuff said!
