JONATHAN DAVIS BRINGS EMOTIONS TO LIFE ON CURRENT TOUR.

Jonathan Davis is known for being the frontman of KORN for 25 years. And for the past 10 years he has been working on a different side project under his name. The album, Black Labyrinth, was released back in May of 2018, which had the hit single “What It Is” in January. The venue was packed with fans eagerly waiting to see the one and only Jonathan Davis. Once he took the stage, everyone knew they were at the right place at the right time.

His album is a ball of emotions that give way for a cathartic healing experience for listeners. Which fans in attendance this night were able to get first hand, definitely more than the usual rock program. Running through songs from his album, Jonathan exposes himself to the world whether it be criticism or adoration. One thing is for sure, the emotions behind his lyrics are honest and enduring.

This isn’t the usual metal show that people know Jonathan for; this is a more intimate gathering at a pace that gives people the time to appreciate what more he has to offer. Something which might surprise you by what you walk away with at the end of the night. Make sure to catch the few remaining dates on this tour. Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals Return To Give You Your Metal Medication

September 7, 2018 Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals showed up in full destructive force at The Rock Box in San Antonio, TX. They are currently on tour, which is actually a rescheduled tour due to Philip having to take some time out for back surgery. I’m glad he has made a speedy recovery. Since I am from Texas, I grew up listening to Philip Anselmo with Pantera and consider them one of the greatest metal bands ever. Every project he has been in can easily stand on its own strength. Each are different and each one can kick your ass. This also applies to The Illegals. So, once I saw there was going to be a meet and greet for Philip H. Anselmo (& The Illegals), I had to make it. I know some people complain about meet and greets and their prices, but the price for this one was quite affordable and more than worth it.

Of course showing up to the venue wasn’t as easy for me this time around, having to drive two hours just to get to the venue, but it’s nothing that anyone else wouldn’t do to meet their metal icons. The meet and greet experience was pretty surreal; getting to actually talk to, shake hands, get a hug and take some photos was something I will always remember. Getting the chance to tell a member of one your favorite bands of all time of how much their music means to you is treasure in its own right. And having Philip be more than humble, grateful and thankful for what I had to say speaks volumes of the person he is. I have to say, every member of the band is completely down to earth and appreciative of the fans. Having had such a great experience, I know that I will more than happily pay for another meet and greet with these guys.

This was The Illegals second show on the tour which you would never know by how precise they were playing each song. Watching guitarist Mike De Leon appear to get possessed as he spun about; Stephen Taylor no BS attitude as he churned out the riffs, Joey “Blue” Gonzalez beat those drums to death and bassist Walter Howard lay down the grooves, all gave vocalist Philip Anselmo the perfect format to destroy your senses. Opening up with Little Fucking Heros grabbed you by the throat and didn’t let up. Rolling through with Choosing Mental Illness , Finger Me , Walk Through Exits Only to name a few, they gave the fans exactly the prescription they needed. Oh, by the way, if you haven’t picked up The Illegals latest album, you are missing out on some amazing music. It’s freaking great!!

Just when you thought the show was winding down, the last three songs of the night were Pantera songs! Kicking in with Hellbound , then to Death Rattle was fucking unbelievable! Finishing off with a mix up of Domination/Hollow gave the night a perfect close. You could feel the deafening roar of everyone losing themselves and singing in unison to beloved songs, myself included. This has got to be one of my top favorite shows in most recent memory; I just wish I could tag along for the rest of the tour.

BEHEMOTH BROUGHT DEATH AND DESTRUCTION TO CORPUS CHRISTI TX

Behemoth is an iconic band.  Not only for their music, but also for fighting for what they believe in regardless of what obstacles may come.  I was lucky to photograph them this June 18, 2018 at a local venue: House of Rock.  Somehow they made a headliner show while they were on tour with Slayer.  I wasn't able to shoot them with the Slayer tour, so this gave me the opportunity to take photos and catch the show.

And what a hell of a concert it was.  They completely blew away any expectations that I had and left me with my jaw on the floor.  From their sound, lighting, performance, music; everything was top notch.  Even tho this show was on a weekday, you wouldn't have known by the numbers in attendance.  Everyone in the venue was packed to the gills, which made for the circle pits even that much more punishing.  Behemoth is a band that must be experienced live; no questions asked.

The hour and a half set was started with Blow Your Trumpets and cycled through classics such as Ov Fire And The VoidAt The Left Hand Ov God to name a few and came to a close with O Father O Satan O Sun!

Butcher Babies still remains a favorite to see live!

Somehow this escaped from being posted on here.  So here it is:

I’m partial to Butcher Babies.  They are one of my favorite bands to see live, and when I saw they were hitting my town, I immediately bought tickets and was ready for the show for about 2 months.  It was a long wait, but wholeheartedly worth it. As before, I bought the pre party VIP experience. Each time I have done this from prior tours, they have always gone above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great time.  I can honestly say that out of all the VIP’s I have bought throughout the years, they are the best. They take the time to hang out and talk with everyone and take more than just the usual one pick, shake a hand and get booted out.  Any chance I get, I will always do a VIP experience with them.

On May 30, 2018 they played at one of my favorite local venues as well, House of Rock.  I love it because the closeness that you can have with the band, making it a memorable time.  First song up was off their new stellar album LILITH Korova. Everyone in attendance lost their freaking minds, myself included!  Half their set included songs off this new album, including the songs: Lilith, The Huntsman, Look What We’ve Done, along with classic songs of Monster’s Ball, and Magnolia Blvd to name a few.

Butcher Babies live are a whirlwind of chaos and energy! They have continued to push  themselves with each new album and gaining new fans and solidifying old ones.  They have become role models of what hard work and steel minded determination can accomplish.  Now, if I could only figure how to just follow them on tour to each show, I would be set!

ALTERBEAST RIPS A NEW ONE IN CORPUS CHRISTI, TX FEB 23, 2018

Unholy hell!  Alterbeast played in Corpus Christi, TX on Feb 23, 2018 and totally destroyed Boozers Rock Bar.  It also happened to have been the release if their new album Feast, which happens to be a total face melter.  Seriously, this album rips.  As for their live performance, they are precise, brutal and in your face!  Being at a death metal show, such as Alterbeast, is very cathartic in the sense that everyone in attendance is there to lose themselves to the music.  The speed riffing, blast beats and vocal growling make for a perfect outlet of pent up emotions.  The band played songs from both albums which the fans feasted on feverishly.  It’s rare to get such great tech death metal band that is diverse in its sounds and separates itself from the pack by playing riffs that are melodic and punishing at the same time. Catch Alterbeast live; you wont be disappointed
